Intro

I am Carmen Salley, an aspiring web developer and software engineer from South Carolina, currently attending Lambda School for Full Stack Web Development. Aside from college work, I have invested in self learning paths of education, with examples of my assignments during enrollment at Lambda found within my portfolio gallery. I enjoy taking complex problems and tuning them into simple and beautiful interface designs. I also love the logic and structure of coding and always strive to write elegant and efficient code, whether it be HTML, CSS, Javascript or Python. When I'm not coding, you'll find me on the stage singing or writing new music.

I am a detail-oriented professional who has been consistently praised as hard-working by co-workers and management. Over the course of a 13-year career, I have completed an I.T. degree with concentration in Computer programming, 3.5 years of Computer Science studies, Web Master and Project management certifications, and currently completing a full stack web development coding program. I work effectively as an individual or with a team, have strong communication, organizational skills, and exceptionally technical savvy. I have worked as both a Project Coordinator and Provisioning Specialist in the telecommunications industry, Social Media analyst and ad management contractor for Facebook and Google, and Interned as a Software Engineer for The USDA.

Sauti Africa - African Marketplace

The African Marketplace is a mobile-based trade and market information platform for cross-border traders in East Africa. It is based on the Sauti Africa, a non-profit that is proven to improve the lives of cross-border traders by providing trade and market information services that empower cross-border traders to trade legally, profitably, and safely. The app gives a real-time market pricing for items, information to where markets are located, provides a way to share items for sale, and information for laws and regulations regarding trading on the border.

Secret Family Recipe Cookbook

This Secret Family Recipe Cookbook gives a user the ability to enter a new recipe, including title, source, ingredients, instructions, and category (dinner, chicken, dessert, pasta, etc.) and edit or delete it later, a homepage to view all entered recipes and the ability to search for recipes by title or tagged categories. This was created using React, Redux and Semantic UI.

Synaps

Synaps is a Life Science flashcard application for biology students. A user can take quizzes, create, edit, and share their own deck and enjoy a game

Bubl App

The Bubl App is a social platform that helps students transition from elementary school to middle school. Bubl is a school specific social network and friendship connection tool. Users can create an account, join an existing school account, and search for existing "bubls" to join. They can explore interests through hashtag searches and connect with others and share experiences

Tieme

Tieme Ndo is a company that works with rural farmers to provide convenient and timely access to improved farm inputs and technologies that doubles crop yield annually without capital requirements. Currently, Tieme Ndo has no formal way to track their clients. This app helps improve operations by allowing them to digitally track their clients and their loan repayment rates
